Why You Need A Will

Eight Good Reasons to Make a Will

1. We know you care about what happens to your property after you die but a Will is the only way to be sure that your wishes will be carried out, as without a will the laws of Intestacy divide your assets between your blood relatives, and this may not necessarily be what you would like to happen.

2. It is particularly important to make a Will if you are not married or not in a registered civil partnership. The law does not automatically recognise co-habitants and as a result even if you have lived together for many years, your co-habitant may be left with nothing.

3. A Will avoids family arguments and complex legal disputes as to who has the right to deal with your Estate and it makes it easier for those left behind.

4. A Will is vital if you have children or dependents who may not be able to care for themselves. Without a Will there could be uncertainty about who will look after or provide for them if you die and a Will can include the appointment of a guardian to look after young children both financially and with regard to their general upbringing and education.

5. A Will ensures peace of mind.

6. A Will can have significant Inheritance Tax saving advantages particularly if you have business assets or are involved in agriculture.
